Woolsey Hall Quiet Space

Crafting a maze of calm and inspiration.

In the midst of building a new business school at Wichita State University, the school held a competition to commission 3 Graphic Design studentโ€™s to design mural art for quiet spaces. After reviewing portfolios, I was honored to be 1 of 3 designers selected for this project.

After presenting multiple concepts, we decided to bring my โ€œbusiness mazeโ€ concept to life.

The design for Woolsey Hallโ€™s quiet space showcases a bitmap maze including icons and words relevant to Wichita Stateโ€™s business school. Itโ€™s a fun and engaging way for students to interact with the spaceโ€”or maybe even give them a brain break from whatever they are studying.

The quote, โ€œexplore your full potential,โ€ is from Barton School Dean Larisa Genin in an article on Woolsey Hall. Itโ€™s used in the space to inspire those passing by or taking advantage of the quiet space.

It also encourages students to โ€œexploreโ€ the design and find unique business-related symbols within the maze.
