In the midst of building a new business school at Wichita State University, the school held a competition to commission 3 Graphic Design student’s to design mural art for quiet spaces. After reviewing portfolios, I was honored to be 1 of 3 designers selected for this project.

After presenting multiple concepts, we decided to bring my “business maze” concept to life.

The design for Woolsey Hall’s quiet space showcases a bitmap maze including icons and words relevant to Wichita State’s business school. It’s a fun and engaging way for students to interact with the space—or maybe even give them a brain break from whatever they are studying.

The quote, “explore your full potential,” is from Barton School Dean Larisa Genin in an article on Woolsey Hall. It’s used in the space to inspire those passing by or taking advantage of the quiet space.

It also encourages students to “explore” the design and find unique business-related symbols within the maze.
